ABSTRACT

After each crisis, where the activation of the crisis communication plan occurred or whenever an emergency communication is sent, an afteractionreview should be conducted. The same is true whenever the plan or components of the plan have been tested or exercised. The review processevaluates what went well, mistakes made, and any best practices that can be applied to enhance or improve the plan. From these reviews, an after-action report (AAR) should be generated. The AAR is arecord of the review, including the process used, —ndings, outcomes, and improvementplan. If earlier AARs exist, it is good practice to review each as a part of the analysis. At aminimum, the last two should be included as a part of the review.
