ABSTRACT
Communications has evolved as humankind has evolved. Warning othersstarted with early communications systems and tools that are still used today-smoke signals and heliographs, a type of mass noti•cation system. Mass noti—cation is the capability to provide information to all affected parties in a given area. When the concept of mass noti—cation is applied to an emergency situation it includes noti—cation before, during, or after an emergency situation. Mass noti—cation systems used for emergencysituations provide the capability to provide real-time information to building occupants or others in the immediate area during event.
