ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to summarize all correlations available today for steady and unsteady (zero and nonzero mean) ¨uid ¨ow and heat transfer. These are done under laminar, ¨ ow conditions. This theory also provides the designer with the equations to use in calculating heat transfer coefŽcient, wall heat ¨ux, and so forth, under oscillatory (with zero mean) ¨ow conditions. With this information, one can calculate the Žgure of merit, which permits balancing (or “trafe-off”) heat transfer and ¨ow losses, under different ¨ow and heat transfer conditions.
