ABSTRACT
Brothers Robert and James Stirling worked together on the development of the original engine now known as the Stirling engine. The Reverend Robert Stirling patented the engine in 1816. Development continued off and on over the years; Stirling engines and coolers are presently being used or developed for space and terrestrial applications.
