ABSTRACT

Occupational health (OH) continues to receive less focus than safety in the workplace relative to other disciplines of HSEQ programs. Perhaps this is so because of the low impact to the cost associated with workplace health and safety. Unpublished data suggest that only 15% of workplace health and safety cost is associated with occupational health incidents. As a consequence, organizations have failed to place emphasis on OH, thereby failing to capitalize on opportunities to promote further improvements in this area.
