ABSTRACT
Unless a system for collecting smoothed (consistent) numbers of kanban is implemented at the front line of the plant, parts manufacturers may be inconvenienced. Although production may be smoothed at the nal assembly line (in other words, the use of various kinds of parts is averaged or smoothed in the sequence schedule of the mixed-model assembly line), in reality, kanban might not be given in equal numbers to the parts manufacturers when the latter receive their kanban cards.
