Unless a system for collecting smoothed (consistent) numbers of kanban is implemented at the front line of the plant, parts manufacturers may be inconvenienced. Although production may be smoothed at the nal assembly line (in other words, the use of various kinds of parts is averaged or smoothed in the sequence schedule of the mixed-model assembly line), in reality, kanban might not be given in equal numbers to the parts manufacturers when the latter receive their kanban cards.
