How many people were on the planet in any given past year, how many are there on earth today? These questions are not easy to answer and any numbers should properly be intervals of numbers. For example, pick a time like July 1994; the CIA World Fact Book 1994 stated that at that time the world human population was 5,643,289,771. The implied accuracy is certainly misleading. Why?1
