ABSTRACT

It would be an understatement to say that families are getting mixed, confused, and sometimes, completely impossible to understand messages about nutrition today. Many of these messages contain information or guidance about bone health. For example, advocates of vegan diets sometimes insist that milk is bad for your bones. Advocates for low carbohydrate diets and low sugar diets often argue that children should not drink any ¢avored drinks or juices. Advocates for suntan booths argue that adolescents should be allowed to use these booths in order to increase their vitamin D. In contrast, other public advocacy groups have argued for banning children under age 18 from suntan booths.
