ABSTRACT

One theme that we have tried to focus on is our belief that the scienti—c information with which we make very important dietary decisions regarding infants, children, and adolescents is woefully inadequate. Furthermore, the information sources we have available to us regarding the scienti—c evidence are often inaccurate and distorted. Very frequently, there is confusion between two things being associated with each other and those two things being causally related. Despite this obvious reality, every day there are numerous articles, widely quoted, which make just that incorrect leap and link two things without much evidence of a cause and effect relationship between them.
