ABSTRACT
Today, a vast number of low-molecular weight drug molecules (typically <500 g/mol) are commonly used as therapeutic agents. Most new drugs, however, are poorly soluble in water. As a consequence, relatively small amounts of the drug reach the target site. Thus far, numerous supramolecular drug-delivery systems are under investigation to circumvent these limitations and improve the potential of the respective drug.
