ABSTRACT
The calculation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors is a problem that plays an important part in a large number of applications, both theoretical and practical. They touch most areas in science, engineering, and economics. Some examples are the solution of the Schro¨dinger equation in quantum mechanics, the various eigenvalues representing the energy levels of the resulting orbital, the solution of ordinary equations, space dynamics, elasticity, fluid mechanics, and many others.
