ABSTRACT

Studies show that one of the major problems of start-up companies is that the necessary and substantial cash is lacking early in the business venture. The similarities of nanotechnology and dot-com technology rise in late 1900s are key in understanding the commercialization, as many dot-coms went bust because of lack of business skills and due diligence in the business setup. Angel investors normally opt to invest, but also advise the company in business basics as well as introduce the idea to the correct people and make it potentially investable. Angel investors are much different than venture capitalists. Most venture capitalists invest other people's money and make their profit by taking a percentage of the return. International Center for materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA) is a research centers that make up the World Premier International (WPI) Research Center Initiative. MANA's goal is to become a "melting pot" drawing top-level researchers from around the world to promote interdisciplinary research via materials nanoarchitectonics.
