ABSTRACT

Energy harvesting will be an increasingly important strategy for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to address concerns regarding future power and energy. On average, the daily DoD consumption of oil exceeds 3 × 105 barrels.1 še concern for the DoD is not just that the world’s reserves of oil are œnite; it is also that future military assets will be consuming dramatically more fuel, and supplying resources to DoD assets, especially those in remote duty stations, in the form of fuel and batteries is highly ine²cient and alarmingly costly.
