ABSTRACT

In this chapter screening techniques to identify energy-ine—cient residential buildings are introduced. ˜ese screening tools are especially useful to carry out retro‘t programs on a community scale since they help identify and prioritize homes that are good candidates for energy e—ciency upgrades. Screening and diagnostic procedures can further retro‘t ešorts by providing the preliminary energy e—ciency level of homes before a walkthrough audit is conducted. ˜e presented screening tools are based on monthly utility data analysis and the development of reference metrics for energy e—ciency levels associated with residential buildings.
