ABSTRACT

Parole is de”ned as a “promise made with or con”rmed by a pledge of one’s honor; especially the promise of a prisoner of war to ful”ll stated conditions in consideration of his release” or “a conditional release of a prisoner serving an indeterminate or unexpired sentence.”† Parole involves the desires, hopes, and dreams of freedom from con”nement. ose who are incarcerated count the days until their anticipated date of release arrives and relish the day when their freedom is granted.
