ABSTRACT

Operating nuclear power plants in the UK carry out a Periodic Safety Review (PSR) at regular intervals (typically every ten years). The PSR is a comprehensive safety review of all important aspects of nuclear safety. It is used to support decisions about nuclear licence renewal, plant restart after prolonged shutdown, or extensions of plant operation. EDF Energy’s Sizewell B plant is currently carrying out the second such PSR (the plant being built in 1991).
