ABSTRACT

Disaster response consists of governmental and social services, humanitarian aid, and the appropriate allocation of resources, including the deployment of designated personnel and volunteers for crisis intervention that is life preserving in the promotion of health and well-being. A major challenge for state and local governments, including disaster relief organizations, is the identiœcation and mobilization of disaster case managers after a disaster occurrence. This challenge is elevated by the fact that there are competing deœnitions of what skills constitute being a disaster case manager and who qualiœes as one.
