Consequently, in order to achieve a highly reproducible quality of the mech­ anochemical treatment, a design framework correlating the surface topographic parameters and the wetting measurements should help to understand how the tex­ ture of the treated surface is related to the uniformity of the treatment. The novel design methodology employed in this study relating the process and the functional performance is based on concurrent engineering. It embodies three design do­ mains - process, physical, functional - and shows their interrelations. The three domains used are the abrasive powder characterization, the treated surface texture analysis, and the wettability performance as shown in Figure 1.
