Investigations of the optical structure of waters in the western Black Sea

Our measurements indicate that vertical transparence distribution in the upper 90 m layer over the studied period had a two-layered structure, and at some open-sea stations only a low transparence layer was observed (at a depth of 20-40 m), though rather diffused. At some stations, a sharp transparence degradation was observed near the sea surface.
