ABSTRACT
The water minimization case studies in Examples 8.1 (Network A) and 6.1 (Network B) are revisited here (Bandyopadhyay et al., 2010). In this case, apart from in-plant direct reuse/recycle, water recovery may also be carried out between both networks. The limiting data for these networks are given in Table 10.1 (reproduced from Tables 8.1 and 6.1, respectively). The freshwater feed is available at 0 ppm. Use the graphical targeting technique of material recovery pinch diagram (MRPD, Chapter 3*) to identify the overall minimum freshwater and wastewater ¤owrates needed for the inter-plant water network, water ¤owrates for individual networks, as well as that of the cross-plant stream(s).
