ABSTRACT
The discussion of concepts from set theory is preliminary to our investigation of probability. We will use relationships among sets to build our probability models. The starting point for the study of probability is the idea of a random experiment. A random experiment is the process of observing a phenomenon in which we have an interest. As implied in the term random experiment, the phenomenon of interest is presumed to be one that is subject to randomness.
