ABSTRACT
We will review the basic terms and concepts that underlie the more detailed methods described in subsequent chapters, explain the constituents of projects, and examine the constraints of projects.
We will consider the role of the project manager, as well as the activities that project managers undertake. We will also assess the skillset project managers need to fulfill their responsibilities. Finally, the chapter will describe the role of professional organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the project management knowledge areas.
