ABSTRACT
On August 20, 1996, a 12-year-old victim was walking home along a wooded bike trail behind her school in Charles County, Maryland (Figures 3.1 and 3.2).
She noticed a male walking in the general vicinity, waved to him, and continued on her way. Moments later, the victim was grabbed by her neck and carried through the woods. While being dragged through the woods, her face was struck by a tree. …e suspect then proceeded to pull down the victim’s shorts and underpants and then vaginally assaulted her. During the assault, the suspect pulled the victim’s shirt up to cover her face. …e suspect then sodomized the victim. …e suspect threatened to kill the victim if she was not quiet and told her that the attack was her fault. …e victim managed to remove the shirt from her face and noted that the suspect was wielding a knife. However, she was unable to get a good look at the suspect’s face.
