Some of the most valuable clues at the crime scene are ngerprints and palm prints (bare footprints are sometimes discovered and may also identify a person, provided there are known exemplars). Prints are conclusive evidence. An expert’s report may state three possible ndings:
1. …e subject made the print. 2. …e subject could not have made the print. 3. …e print had insu‰cient detail to be evaluated.
