ABSTRACT

In chapter 1, it was noted that natural evolution has resulted in the creation of such molecules as nucleic acids, proteins, and their assemblies, whose properties and functions are only now being simulated by scientists. For instance, ribosome particles with a size of 20 nm are supramolecular machines spontaneously assembled from more than ¤fty individual proteins and nucleic acids, which illustrates the power of biologically programmed molecular recognition.
