ABSTRACT

In the preceding chapters, we have demonstrated how important membrane modi-cation is for the optimization of membrane separation processes. The versatility of the membranes required for different processes and applications has meant that the technology for membrane modication must be equally versatile to improve the membrane performance. Hence, the rst part of the book presents a comprehensive review to identify the possibilities of modication processes that can be exploited to meet industrial challenges. The second part of the book, which discusses the application of membrane modication technologies, has identied the strategies that can be pursued for industrial implementation of a membrane separation. We hope that this will serve as an encouragement to the readers who have the challenge of optimizing membrane separation within their area of industry.
