ABSTRACT

Renault et al. (l994) conducted an experiment with Fragaria ananassa Dush cultivar strawberries in an attempt to test a new gas transport model through microperforated PP lms and fruit respiration in MAP (O2/CO2 gas composition). Experiments were conducted initially with packs lled with either 100% NO2 or 100% O2. Sensory parameters such as color and rmness and pH were also investigated. It was found that MAP prolonged the shelf life of the fruit from 2 (control shelf life) up to 7 days.
