ABSTRACT
Multi-wall CNTs were †rst observed and described in 1991 (Iijima 1991) during (high resolution) transmission electron microscopic (HRTEM) analysis of carbon arc electrodes, Figure 9.1. In recent years, other tube structures have been synthesised and described. However, the CNT variety has remained the focus of attention in the R&D community, and accordingly more prominence will be given to it in this chapter, in which methods for their characterization are described.
