ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, the process of materials characterization was explored as an example of strategic and tactical thinking. The following †ve chapters covered, in broad outlines, the physical principles, technical implementation, and operational modes of the most widely used techniques for nanoscale characterization. The †ve chapters subsequent to those were framed as illustrations of the general applications of the techniques and methods to various classes of nanostructure. This chapter returns to the strategic and tactical issues that have not been considered elsewhere, and which are relevant to the characterization process.
