ABSTRACT

P AI is used as a specialty coating onto copper and aluminum conductors due to its high thermal, chemical and electrical resistance along with good mechanical strength. Its outstanding adhesion to different materials, including metals and Teflon, makes it useful for coatings. PAl has less interfacial residual stresses due to

its low coefficient of thermal expansion. Suspensions of P AI are widely used in magnetic wire coatings, in under-the-hood automotive applications and also as coatings for high voltage enamel wires. High glass transition temperature with retention of thermo-oxidative stability and mechanical performance leads to increased reliability and service lifetimes of PAl [1, 2].
