ABSTRACT
Erosion and sedimentation are major global problems, with speci‘c issues associated with loss of agricultural production, adverse impacts on infrastructure, and environmental degradation (Walling and Webb 1996). Erosion problems are particularly severe in hilly areas of the southeastern coastal plain of the United States, where annual watershed sediment yield is three to six times the national average for watersheds of similar size (Shields et al. 1995).
