ABSTRACT

Polymeric nanofibers can be made using the electrospinning process, has already been described in the literature. Electrospinning (Fig. 12.1) uses a high electric field to draw a polymer solution from tip of a capillary toward a collector. A voltage is applied to the polymer solution, which causes a jet of the solution to be drawn toward a grounded collector. The fine jets dry to form polymeric fibers, which can be collected as a web .
