ABSTRACT

Since the time the first polymer materials appeared, much effort has been used to solve the problem of their stabilization and extension of their service life. This problem has not been completely solved until now. However, as production and consumption of polymers increased, it became clear that many polymer materials, in particular, those for packaging, have excessive lifetimes. The most “heavy-duty” polymers – polyolefins, polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene – are not subjected to biodegradation and are preserved under natural conditions for many years.
