ABSTRACT

I n this chapter, we examine advanced CAD methods that lead to the best practices you may want to adopt when you use CAD for spherical work. Some methods are shortcuts and speed the subdivision process along. Other methods facilitate communication and coordination, when design projects involve large teams. Best practices have the highest benefit if implemented early in a project. Unfortunately, project teams are often confronted  with a bewildering array of considerations when they start up; thus, we hope this chapter helps you to identify which decisions are the most important and your options. Early consideration of methods and best practices can save significant time and effort later, and  maximize the benefits of using CAD. This is why these topics are covered here-to better  prepare you for your own CAD work. The most important methods we will discuss here are reference models, design-in-context, mirroring, power copy, publishing, and user-written macros.
