ABSTRACT

Recently, advanced composite materials such as carbon-œber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) have been applied to lightweight structures. However, since the fracture process of CFRP is really complex due to the combination of different constituents of reinforcing œbers and matrix, reliable SHM/ OFS technologies are most demanded in CFRP applications. OFS may be embedded without reducing the strength in CFRP if the appropriate stacking sequence is selected.
