ABSTRACT
To evaluate risk in manual lifting jobs it is ›rst necessary to identify tasks and subtasks that call for the following actions:
1. Lifting and lowering objects (loads) with a mass of 3 kg or more (3 kg value was selected according to ISO 11228-1 [ISO, 2003] and EN 1005-2 [CEN, 2003])
2. Carrying loads possibly related to the lifting and lowering task 3. Pulling and pushing loads
By de›ning jobs and tasks that require manual lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing or pulling loads, it is possible to de›ne which tasks require subsequent risk evaluation.
