ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we devote our attention to mixtures of ideal gases and vapors. We discuss what is meant by a molal or volumetric analysis and by a weight or gravimetric analysis, the Dalton law of partial pressures, and the apparent molecular weight and gas constant of a mixture of ideal gases. Properties of ideal gases are considered, specific and relative humidity are discussed, and the use of the psychrometric chart is demonstrated. Finally, attention is focused on fuels, combustion, and the analysis of the products of combustion.
