ABSTRACT

Having developed two vicinity variates as integrated vicinity indicators (IVIs) around posting point localities to address the somewhat abstract notion of accessibility, we proceed to investigate patterns of propensity in this regard through precedence and progression (Myers and Patil 2010, 2012). Inasmuch as there is more than one indicator involved, all indicators must be honored in this respect. The approach that is to be presented can accommodate multiple indicators as needed, and it is not disturbed by spatial auto-association in or among indicators. We rely only on ordinal information in the indicators and work empirically without attempting to address signi¢cance or lack thereof at this stage. We transfer the localized data into the R© statistical software system (see Section 3.9) from a text ¢le for conducting this analysis. In so doing, we give the relevant R commands and outputs so that the approach is completely speci¢ed. In this chapter, we do not use any special packages for R aside from the function facilities presented here. Accordingly, the ¢rst concern is to import information as a data frame object into R.
