ABSTRACT

Coaching situations vary and so should your approach. While what I have discussed so far applies across the board, most of your coaching is likely to be in assisting leaders to enhance performance or to take the next steps in their careers. Coaching for performance improvement is a complex issue. This chapter looks at common situations that you will face as a coach, including the following:

Coaching the leader who is not adapting to change

Coaching the leader who needs work on relationship building

Coaching the leader who is not performing up to your expectations

While the situations you may face as a coach have infinite variation, the examples presented in this chapter give you tips that you can apply in other similar situations.
