ABSTRACT

A considerable effort has been devoted in fisheries science to understand the relationship between the stock (e.g., the spawning biomass, the number of spawners, the number of eggs spawned, etc.) and the recruitment (e.g., the number of juveniles issuing from the spawning stock). The mathematical modeling of the stock-recruitment process (SR in the following) is of fundamental importance in fish population dynamics. SR relationships give a synthesis of the population renewal and are critical for setting reference points for sustainable management.
