ABSTRACT

A user profile is a mechanism for specifying how standard and custom applications are used by an end user during a simulation. While we sometimes simply refer to them as proles, user proles should not be confused with other types of proles (e.g., trafc proles). Recall that the process of conguring standard and custom application trafc sources consists of the following steps: (1) dene the applications, (2) congure the application statistics to be collected during the simulation, (3) dene the user proles, and (4) deploy the dened applications (which actually involves deploying the user proles). Chapters 5 and 6 discussed the process of conguring standard and custom applications. This chapter focuses on dening user proles and deploying the applications within the simulated network system.
