ABSTRACT

Narvell pushed the End button on his cell phone and sat staring straight ahead. Everyone else in the room was looking at Narvell expecting him to say something, yet he just stared at the wall on the far side of the living room. The phone call had lasted slightly more than three minutes, but seemed like an eternity to both Annie and Chris as they listened to Narvell’s side of the conversation trying to figure out who was on the phone. There weren’t many clues from what Narvell had said to the caller, mainly “No, sir” and “Yes, sir.” But his body language betrayed his voice. The expression on Narvell’s face had gone from confusion to alarm, sudden realization, and then to a look of absolute calm and satisfaction. He had ended the call by saying, “Yes, sir. Thank you. I will.” Then he sat quietly staring at the wall.
