ABSTRACT

Max had just completed telling the history of Housholder Sprockets and the story of the tape measure without a single person interrupting. The room had gone almost deathly quiet when Max spoke his first word, and it had stayed that way throughout his talk. Narvell had been as engrossed in Max’s story as everyone else in the room, even though he had heard it all before. What struck Narvell as truly amazing was that the tape measure story, as told by Max, was nearly identical to the way Chris had told it to him. The only real difference was that this version was a first person narrative.
