ABSTRACT
Z DNA (genetics) DNA in which the double HELIX is wound left-handed rather than right-handed as NORMAL. The sugars do not fit together so well in this CONFIGURATION, giving the MOLECULE a jagged appearance. Z DNA has been studied in Drosophila chromosomes, and it has been suggested that it has a role in GENE REGULATION.
