ABSTRACT
In this chapter we develop a novel relative measure ψ to generalise the Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test statistic (Wilcoxon 1945; Hollander and Wolfe 1999, Chapter 3). An estimator ψZ based on zero-shifted ranks (ZSRs) is used, with a confidence interval calculated by an inversion method. In earlier versions of this work, confidence intervals were based on a single parameter logistic model, using an estimator based on either Wilcoxon ranks (Newcombe 2007e) or ridit ranks (Newcombe 2010a). The approach described here is simpler and preferable.
