ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the vast possibilities and opportunities of mobility in digital signage. The Mobile Marketing Association is a nonprofit organization that has proposed best practices and guidelines for promoting mobile marketing and developing marketing solutions for mobiles. Mobile apps are digital signage delivery platforms in which one of the display components of the signage system is the mobile screen. Location-based convergence of digital signage has emerged since the introduction of global positioning system (GPS)-based services to smartphones and mobile devices. Augmented reality makes use of different mobile convergent services such as location tracking using GPS, camera, gyrosensor, and Internet access, to create an augmented reality experience in which the viewer instead of just watching a signage plays as an actor in the signage. Mobile media has become more popular than conventional television channels and news papers, mostly because of the changing lifestyle of the people and people want everything while on the move and need real-time update of news.
