ABSTRACT
In previous chapters, we used methods connected with straightforward calculations of probabilities. Next, we introduce one of analytical methods of Probability Theory, based on what is called generating functions. It will allow us to solve several important problems, including the extinction problem and some sophisticated questions concerning random walk.
