ABSTRACT

The analysis in the foregoing sections was based on a linearized analysis. In particular the basic equation (17.7) of Chapter 17.1 turned out to become linear, all by itself so to speak. Two essential approximations were made to derive this equation: the assumption of quasi-neutrality (the “plasma approximation”) and omission of polarization drifts. In the following we outline the consequences of relaxing the latter of the two approximations.
