ABSTRACT
Three congurations of the gear shafts are commonly distinguished: (1) parallel-axis gearing, (2) intersected-axis gearing, and (3) crossed-axis gearing. The local geometry of the interacting tooth anks of mating gears is considered following this sequence of gear kinds.
