ABSTRACT
Two of the methods by which scientists and engineers communicate are probably familiar to you-namely, technical reports and journal articles. These are not the only methods by which results are documented and disseminated. Scientists and engineers often gather at conferences to discuss their work, initiate collaborations, and brainstorm new ideas. It is common for each person presenting at the meeting to contribute an abstract or extended abstract that is distributed to the meeting attendees. It is also common at these meetings for scientists and engineers to display their work in poster format.
